We spend our days walking dogs across South Liverpool, so we get asked one question more than any other: where's the best place to walk a dog around here? The honest answer is that we're spoilt — grand Victorian parks, ancient woodland and riverside promenades, all within a few minutes of each other. Here are the spots our pack loves most.
The jewel of South Liverpool. 240 acres of lakes, meadows and the famous Fairy Glen, right in the heart of the city. Brilliant for a sociable group walk, with plenty of space to spread out — see our Sefton Park dog walking page.
Lake, meadow, a Japanese garden and the thousand-year-old Allerton Oak. The wilder Harthill end is perfect for a sniffy explore. See Calderstones.
500 acres of woodland and parkland around Croxteth Hall — endless trails and rarely crowded, and a favourite for our longer adventure walks. Great for a rainy day when you want to get properly muddy. Handy for West Derby.
A breezy two-mile Mersey-side walk with huge skies and river views. Flat, easy and lovely for senior dogs — see our senior dog care, and our Aigburth page.
A Site of Special Scientific Interest with ancient woodland and open meadow — a proper slice of countryside in the suburbs. Lovely and quiet for nervous dogs. More on our Childwall page.
Hilltop woodland that turns into a haze of bluebells each spring, with a pretty floral walled garden alongside. A dog's idea of heaven — see Woolton. (Do keep to the paths through bluebell season.)
The old estate's walled gardens, crumbling orangery and shaded woodland paths make for a proper, sniffy explore whatever the season. See our Allerton page.
A vast open green — the city's original public park — made for a proper run and a game of fetch. Handy for Wavertree and Mossley Hill dogs.
