Garston Park to the Cressington shore

There's more green about than first-timers expect. Garston Park is the friendly local green for an everyday walk — level, easy and handy for a quick daily loop — while just along the neighbouring shore, elegant Cressington Promenade gives a genteel Mersey-side stroll with wide, open water views. The promenade is flat and gentle underfoot, which makes it a favourite for older dogs and for anyone who loves a long, leisurely sniff with the river alongside.

Shoreline explores at the coastal reserve

For something wilder, the Garston Coastal Reserve opens onto shoreline and old dock land with big river views and no shortage of interesting smells. It's an open, characterful spot for a proper explore, though the ground is uneven and the river close by, so we keep dogs we don't yet know well on lead and stick to the safe, established paths.

Care around the Cressington commute

Whether you're settled near Garston village or catching the train from Cressington station, we bridge the gap while you're out. Group walks, solo outings, puppy visits and lunchtime drop-ins are built around your routine, with free collection and drop-off from your door — your dog's walk handled without you rearranging a thing.

Wind, tide and weather by the river

The shore and promenade are lovely but open and exposed, so we keep a close eye on the wind and the tide line and always carry fresh water and a towel. Summer suits the early river walks before the heat builds; winter means wrapping up and keeping on the move. For a nervous dog, Garston Park's quieter corners, well back from the water, are the gentle place to start.
