Handing your dog (and usually a set of keys) to someone new is a big deal. A good dog walker makes your life easier and your dog's day better; the wrong one causes worry. Here are the seven things we'd check before booking anyone in South Liverpool.
Proper public liability and pet-care insurance is non-negotiable. It protects your dog, you and the walker if anything ever goes wrong. Any professional will be happy to show you their cover.
A walker worth their salt will happily connect you with other local owners, or point you to their reviews. Word of mouth is everything in this line of work — ask around your neighbourhood, and don't be shy about asking a walker for a reference or two.

Six, eight, ten dogs crammed into one walk isn't care, it's crowd control. Ask about group sizes and how dogs are matched. We cap our group walks at four, matched on size and temperament — and offer solo walks for dogs who prefer their own space.
You should never have to wonder how your dog's day went. A photo and a quick note after every walk is the standard to expect — and honestly, it's the best part of many owners' working day.
Ask how keys are stored. They should be coded rather than labelled with your address, kept locked away, and never left in a vehicle. Your home security deserves the same care as your dog.
